If you are reading this blog, you may have recently got engaged, so firstly, a massive congratulations! Have you found yourself asking if you should hire a wedding planner? I’m sure you have many questions; hopefully I can answer some of these and help give some clarity.
What does a wedding planner do?
Many couples aren’t 100% sure what a wedding planner does, some feel nervous a planner will take over control of their day, just to confirm, this definitely isn’t what a planner will do. Wedding planners work incredibly hard, we work long, unsociable hours, and it can be stressful, but we do it because we love the industry and love working with our clients to ensure that they have the most memorable special day.
Throughout the wedding planner journey, of course we are there to assist and support you with the overall vision and management of your wedding but a good planner will listen to you, they will be your mentor, your confidant and will take away the stress that naturally occurs when planning a wedding.

Why hire a wedding planner?
Weddings are extremely time consuming, a planner will allow you more time to do the things you want, maybe it’s a well-deserved pamper session, dinner with your other half, or more time to spend with your young family.
They will enable your visions to come to life, you might already have lots of ideas, but don’t know where to start or you’re not sure who to contact to make this vision a reality. Or it might be that you don’t have any ideas and are worried that your wedding will not reach your expectations, but don’t worry, your planner will be able to create a vision that will get you excited.
Wedding planners will have worked with many leading and trusted suppliers and will be able to handpick ones that will compliment your taste and budget. They may even be able to save you money by possibly getting a discount.
When the day finally arrives, they will be the first on site and last to leave ensuring that your day runs smoothly, that everything is set up; they will oversee suppliers, and will make sure that every attention to detail is met.

How do you know who is the right planner for you?
When you start looking for a planner, it is understandable that you might feel overwhelmed, but what makes the wedding industry so great and exciting is that there are many styles of wedding planners out there, there is someone for everyone, but who is the right planner for you? It is really important that you have a good relationship with your planner, they will be your friend and confident, you will be trusting them to organise one of, if not THE most important day of your life, so it’s incredibly important you get on.
Take a look at their website and social media, do their aesthetics speak to you and get you excited? Can you see your wedding in their portfolio? If so, get in contact with them. Does the planner make you feel relaxed? Are they easy to talk to? Do you like them? Are you speaking the same language? If so, and you have decided you want them to plan your wedding, then book your date with them ASAP, most planners only take on a handful of weddings a year so can get booked up very quickly.
Wedding planners services vary from planner to planner. Some offer a full planning service where they will work with you from the very beginning of your journey to the very end of your special day, sourcing venues, suppliers, to managing your budget. Another service they might provide is an ‘on the day coordination’ where around 4-6 weeks before your big day, they will come and take the organisation from you easing you of stress, and will be there on the day to make sure everything you have organised goes to plan.
